DISTANCE SESSIONS

Setting Up for Success

Best Practices to Ensure a Relaxing and Productive Distance Session

Telephone Sessions

Phone calls* may be used for certain kinds of individual sessions at Inner Compass such as Mediumship Readings and Intuitive Life Coaching, and occasionally for Deep Dive and Pranic Healing sessions. * Telephone calls conveying voice transmissions; for example, calls made with landline phones or basic mobile phones (smart phones may also be used, in which case these same suggestions apply). Plan to use a room in which you will not be disturbed during the phone session. If you share space with others, then find a room in a quiet area with a door you can shut to minimize interruptions. Individual sessions often include private conversations and outside distractions can really distract.
You’ll want a comfortable chair in which you can sit upright; one that supports your back, with a desk or table nearby that can hold your telephone in a hands-free stand if needed. Depending on the type of session, you may also wish to have paper, a pen, and water handy. If using a wireless phone, make sure the space has a strong connection, and have a charging cord handy so you can quickly plug it in if the power supply gets low.
If you wish to make an audio-recording of the session in whole or part, you must receive permission prior to recording. Permission is typically granted for individual mediumship readings. For other session types, or events where some information may be proprietary, recording is not allowed; therefore, always ask for permission first.

Online Sessions via Zoom

Plan to use a room in which you will not be disturbed during the session, workshop, or event. If you share space with others, then find a room in a quiet area with a door you can shut to minimize interruptions. Online sessions may include meditative processes and other exercises and outside distractions can really distract.
You’ll want a comfortable chair in which you can sit upright; one that supports your back, with a desk or table nearby to hold paper, pen, water, and your device.
Use a desktop computer or laptop if you have one. If you don’t have access to a personal computer, then a smart phone or other device can work if you set it on a hands-free stand. Position your device so that, when the video camera is on, it shows your face while you are sitting in your chair. Make sure the space you are in has a strong internet connection, and keep a charging cord handy, so you can quickly plug it in if the power supply gets low.
If there are handouts for a session, a file attachment will be provided in the email that includes the Zoom invitation/link. Please be sure to print handouts prior to the session so they will be handy; it’s not necessary to read the handouts ahead of time unless you are instructed to do so in the email.
When you access the Zoom meeting, you’ll be in a waiting room. This is a good time to set your video (camera) and sound (microphone) – you will need both of these features turned on so that we can see and hear you during the session. We will let you in the classroom when we are ready to begin.
No videorecording, audiorecording, transcripting, copying, or photographing of any class or event, in whole or in part, is allowed unless you have received prior permission in writing from Inner Compass; this is to protect the intellectual property of the presenter and the privacy of participants. Requests to audio-record a private mediumship reading are typically granted.
If you have not used Zoom before, you may need to install the application to your computer or device; do this well ahead of your session so you can explore Zoom at your leisure (Zoom's online support includes orientation videos). While we understand that technology can be challenging, do not assume Inner Compass can answer those kinds of questions; they will likely need to be answered by your Internet provider or someone in close proximity to you who can help you set up and use Zoom on your device.
